From approvals to disbursement: what funders check at each stage of a construction project.
Project funding is assessed on the project itself as much as on the promoter. Understanding what a funder checks at each stage helps you approach at the right time with the right material.
Title, approvals and the project report carry the most weight. Funders want to see clear land title, the approvals obtained so far, and cost and revenue assumptions that hold up to questions.
Progress against plan, cost control and sales or offtake become central. Disbursements are commonly linked to milestones and to the promoter's own contribution.
Projects close to completion sometimes need capital to finish. Funders here look hard at the remaining cost, the receivables and why the gap arose.
