Documents usually needed for business funding

A practical checklist to keep ready, and why each item matters to a funder.

The exact list depends on the route and the counterparty, but most funding discussions draw on the same core set of documents. Having them ready shortens every stage that follows.

Core checklist

  • KYC and constitution documents of the entity and its promoters
  • Audited financial statements and ITRs for the last three years
  • Provisional financials for the current year
  • Bank statements for the last twelve months
  • GST returns
  • Schedule of existing loans with sanction letters
  • Details of security offered
  • A short note on the purpose and use of funds

Why consistency matters

Funders cross-check. Turnover in the financials should reconcile with GST returns and bank credits. Where there are differences, a short explanation up front is far better than a query later.
